Kids Summer Camp

Kids Summer Camp in Orlando: Week-Long Summer Fun at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips

Summer break in Orlando is long and hot, and working parents need a plan for every one of those weekdays. Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips offers Summer My Way Summer Camp, our kids summer camp in Orlando. Camp runs in week-long blocks for ages 5 to 11. Field trips give campers a chance to explore beyond the building. On-site water days add to the summer fun. The same Gold Seal day care center standards we follow all year apply to every camp day. Call our front desk to ask which weeks are still open.

Early Starts, Late Finishes

Week-Long Summer Camp Fits Long Workdays

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips sets up summer camp for parents whose workdays start early and end late. Many Orlando families here work shifts at the theme parks, in hotels, or along the Sand Lake Road Restaurant Row. Those jobs rarely follow a 9-to-5 pattern.

Our center is open 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday. That gives you room to drop off before an early shift and pick up after a late one. We’re closed Saturday and Sunday, so weekend shifts will need a separate plan.

Camp runs in week-long sessions, and each week has its own state theme. If your shifts change from week to week, talk with us about the schedule you need. Our flexible scheduling is set up for families whose hours shift.

Ladybird is 2.6 miles (about 13 minutes) from Universal Studios. We are the closest day care to Universal Studios Orlando.

Building, Moving, Slowing Down

Camp Days Mix Science, Cooking, Soccer, and Ballet

Summer Camp at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips keeps Orlando kids busy with active, hands-on days. Children who sit through a long summer with nothing to do often get restless, so we plan each day around a mix of building, moving, and slowing down.

Science activities let kids test ideas and see what happens. Cooking activities teach measuring, following steps, and working as a team. Soccer and ballet dance get bodies moving and help kids practice taking turns and following a coach.

Quiet hours matter just as much, especially after lunch or a hot morning. Social studies, story time, and our creative play centers give campers calm activities that still teach something. The weekly state themes give these lessons a focus.

Our building has dedicated spaces for this work, including an Art Studio, Science Lab, Library, and Computer Lab, so a cooking or science project doesn’t have to compete for space with reading time.

Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack are cooked on site by our own cook as part of our on-site nutrition program, so campers get fresh, balanced meals every day.

Two Trips a Week

Field Trips Take Campers Out Around Dr. Phillips

Summer My Way Summer Camp includes two field trips per week, so Dr. Phillips families get camp beyond the classroom. A trip gives campers a change of scene and gives the week something to look forward to.

Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake is one of our Summer My Way field trips. Many Orlando families already know Turkey Lake, so your child may come home talking about a place you’ve visited together.

On trips, children go out with their own camp group. Our staff supervise them the whole time and keep ratios in place throughout the trip. Staying with familiar faces helps kids feel settled in a busy public space.

Trip plans can change from one summer to the next. Ask our front desk for this summer’s trip list.

Central Florida Weather

Water Days and Indoor Rooms Beat Florida Heat and Storms

Orlando summer heat and afternoon thunderstorms shape how Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips plans each camp day. Outdoor play is important, but in Central Florida it has to work around the weather.

Monday is water day, when campers cool off in our on-site water play area. If your child loves getting wet, keep Mondays on your schedule.

Our playground has shaded equipment and safety surfacing. Shade cuts down on direct sun during outdoor play, though it doesn’t remove the heat. On the hottest days, outdoor time still needs breaks and water.

Things You Can Check

Gold Seal Standards and Live Cameras Keep You Connected

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips holds Florida Gold Seal Quality Care status from the Florida Department of Children and Families. That matters most if you’ve just moved to Bay Hill or Williamsburg and have no local friends to ask about camps. Without a referral, you have to rely on things you can check:

  • Florida Gold Seal Quality Care, awarded by the Florida Department of Children and Families
  • A.P.P.L.E. Accreditation (Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment)
  • N.E.C.P.A. Accreditation (National Early Childhood Program Accreditation), which looks at how adults work with children and how the school works with parents

During the day, you get live parent camera access, so you can see your child’s room. Our app sends real-time updates, and you can message teachers directly.

Ms. Yliana Gomez

Director

Our director, Ms. Yliana Gomez, has more than 15 years of childcare experience. She holds a National Child Development Associate (CDA) credential from the Council for Professional Recognition, as well as the Florida Director Credential. All of our staff meet or exceed Florida state credential requirements, and every staff member is CPR and First Aid certified.

Three Steps

Reserving Your Child’s Summer Camp Weeks

Reserving summer camp at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips starts with a call to our front desk. Parents tell us their concerns get answered the same day, which helps when you’re trying to lock in care before your own work schedule fills up.

  1. Ask which weeks are open. Availability can change, so it helps to ask early.

  2. Choose your weeks and schedule. Use our flexible scheduling to match your shifts.

  3. Tell us what your child needs. Share details about meals or behavioral support up front so our staff can plan before day one.

One point often confuses families who are new to Florida. VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) runs during the school year only at our center. Summer camp is a separate program, so VPK doesn’t cover summer weeks here.

If your child already rides our before and after school bus to Palm Lake Elementary or Bay Meadows Elementary, ask us about summer weeks. Your child would stay in a building they already know.
