Preschool Graduation

Preschool Graduation in Orlando: Celebrate Your Child's Big Step at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips

Preschool graduation in Orlando marks the close of the Pre-K year and your child's step into kindergarten. Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips is a Gold Seal day care center. Your child's Ladybird Academy preschool experience builds toward kindergarten readiness. At graduation, we celebrate that milestone with your family.

Ask our front desk for this year's graduation date and any open Pre-K spots.

The Last Big Moment

Preschool Graduation Marks Your Child's Move to Kindergarten

Preschool graduation at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips closes the Pre-K Classroom year and opens your child's move to kindergarten. If you're an Orlando parent with a 4-year-old finishing Pre-K or VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) this school year, graduation is the last big moment before a new school.

We treat graduation as one of our family engagement events, so families can see this milestone in person. For many children, having family in the room makes the day feel real, and “kindergarten” stops being just a word.

The ceremony is a celebration, not a test. Your child's kindergarten readiness comes from the whole year of daily practice before graduation day. So when you ask how your child is doing, ask about skills and habits, like letter sounds, early math, and taking turns with classmates.

If you chose our school planning to stay for several years, graduation is a chance to see what that time added up to. Event details can change from year to year, so please confirm the date, time and guest plans directly with our front desk.

Named Curricula

Pre-K Skills Your Child Builds Before Graduation Day

Kindergarten readiness at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips is built through named curricula and daily hands-on practice, not just a ceremony at the end. Your child learns reading and language through the Abeka curriculum, a structured program that teaches phonics (the sounds letters make). For early math skills, we use Saxon Math, a step-by-step math program.

Many Bay Hill and Dr. Phillips parents want a curriculum they can look up and check for themselves. Abeka and Saxon Math are both published programs, so you can read about each one before you enroll.

Learning also happens in our on-site learning centers. In the Art Studio, children do creative work with color, shape and materials. The Science Lab offers science activities that build curiosity, the Library has books and storytime sessions, and the Computer Lab gives children early experience with technology.

Plan to Be There

Families Share the Preschool Graduation Ceremony in Orlando

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips holds preschool graduation as a family engagement event, so working parents can plan to be there. Many families near Sand Lake Road and the Orlando tourism corridor work early, late or changing hours at theme parks, hotels and restaurants, so a weekday event can take some planning. Once you know the date, talk with your employer early. A shift swap or a few hours off is easier to arrange with notice.

Our parent app sends real-time updates, and you can message your child's teacher directly with questions about timing and details. You also have live camera access to the classrooms, so you can check in on your child's day while you work.

Our front desk answers parent questions the same day. Ask for this year's graduation date and time as soon as you can, so you have room to plan around work, and call with any follow-up questions.

Facts You Can Verify

Gold Seal and Dual Accreditation Stand Behind Every Graduate

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips has served Dr. Phillips families since 2013, and outside groups have reviewed our program. This matters most if you're new to Orlando. Many families move to the Dr. Phillips area from the Northeast and Midwest. With no local friends to ask, they often check credentials before they enroll.

Here's what you can verify. We hold Florida Gold Seal Quality Care, awarded by the Florida Department of Children and Families. We are accredited by A.P.P.L.E. as an Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment.

We also hold N.E.C.P.A. (National Early Childhood Program Accreditation), which looks at how adults and children interact and how the program works with parents and the community. Our NECPA accreditation is valid through April 30, 2027. We are members of F.A.C.C.M. (Florida Association of Child Care Management) and N.C.C.A. (National Child Care Association).

Kindergarten Transition Support Continues After Graduation

Before and after school care at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips keeps supporting your child once Pre-K ends. For children starting kindergarten in Orange County Public Schools, our School Age classroom serves children ages 5 to 12.

Our before and after school bus runs to and from Palm Lake Elementary and Bay Meadows Elementary. We're open Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, and before-school drop-off starts at 6:30 AM. After school, your child gets homework help, snacks, outdoor fitness and adult supervision until you arrive.

The summer between Pre-K and kindergarten can feel long. If your child is 5 or older, our Summer My Way Summer Camp, for ages 5 to 11, can help bridge that gap:

  • Week-long camps with a different state theme each week
  • Two field trips per week, including Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake
  • Monday water days

Central Florida summers are hot, and afternoon thunderstorms are common. Hurricane season also runs June through November. On hot days, children cool off in our water play area. When storms roll in, play moves indoors to Playtown (our pretend-play room), the library and the art room.
