Early Childhood Education

Early Childhood Education in Orlando: Infant to Pre-K Learning at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips provides Early Childhood Education in Orlando for children from infancy through pre-K. Our Gold Seal day care center offers infant care, toddler classes, full-day preschool in Dr. Phillips, Florida VPK, and kindergarten readiness, so your child can start with us as a baby and stay in the same familiar building until kindergarten. Each day includes planned lessons, not just supervision. We are open Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, and we have served Dr. Phillips families since 2013. To start enrollment, call our front desk at (407) 412-6908.

Infants Through Pre-K

Early Learning Programs for Every Age, From Infant Care to Pre-K

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips runs full-day programs for infants, toddlers, 2s, 3s, and 4-year-olds, with each age group in its own classroom. We offer full-day programs only. That fits families who need full-time care, though it may not suit families who want a few hours a week.

Infant care starts at 6 weeks, and feeding is included throughout the day. Parents often name our infant room teachers in their reviews. These teachers stay with the same age group all day, and we keep ratios at all times, so your baby sees the same faces from drop-off to pickup.

Toddler classes build on that steady start:

  • Sensory play, meaning hands-on activities that use touch, sight, and sound
  • Storytime sessions that build listening and early words
  • Potty training support

Potty training tends to go more smoothly when home and school follow the same routine. Tell our toddler teachers what you do at home so your child hears the same words in both places.

From there, your child moves into full-day preschool and then our pre-K classroom, which ends with preschool graduation.

Dr. Phillips sits near Orlando's theme park and hotel corridor, where many parents work early, late, or shifting hours. Our 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM weekday hours and flexible scheduling are built for those jobs.

A Real Curriculum

Abeka and Saxon Math Give Your Child a Real Curriculum

The Abeka curriculum guides daily lessons in our classrooms at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips. Abeka gives teachers a set plan for reading and early literacy, including phonics (the link between letters and sounds). Your child learns in a planned order instead of picking up skills by chance.

Saxon Math builds early math skills step by step, with each new skill resting on one your child has already practiced. The tradeoff is pace. A structured program moves in order, so some children may need more practice before the next step.

Many families in Dr. Phillips have moved here from the Northeast and Midwest. Because Abeka and Saxon Math are named programs, you can look them up and see what your child will learn before you tour our school.

Lessons also happen outside the main classroom. Our building has on-site rooms for focused learning:

  • Art Studio sinks and paint supply cubbies

    Art Studio

  • Row of tablets and red chairs in the computer lab

    Science Lab

  • Reading room bookshelves, a cozy armchair and a colorful children's rug

    Library

  • Rocket ship mural in the Ladybird computer lab

    Computer Lab

Enrichment activities add variety to the week. Children explore science, cooking, and social studies. Language learning includes sign language for infants and toddlers and conversational Spanish from age 2. Ballet, dance, and soccer give children a chance to move and follow directions in a group.

Ready for Kindergarten

Florida VPK and School Readiness Prepare Your Child for Kindergarten

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips is a Florida VPK provider and accepts School Readiness for families who qualify. Both programs help pay for early learning, but they work in different ways.

VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) is free for eligible 4-year-olds in Florida. At our school, VPK runs during the school year only, so plan ahead for summer care before kindergarten starts.

School Readiness (formerly 4C) is support for families who qualify. If you used 4C in the past, School Readiness is the same idea under a new name.

Our transition to kindergarten work focuses on what your child will need on the first day of school. We watch for developmental milestones, the skills most children reach by a certain age. We practice social-emotional learning, such as taking turns, sharing, and handling big feelings. And we build early literacy and math, including letter sounds and number skills from Abeka and Saxon Math.

Kindergarten readiness is more than knowing letters. A child who can wait in line, ask for help, and follow a two-step direction often settles into a new classroom faster.

Florida VPK is often unfamiliar to families who have moved to Bay Hill, the Turkey Lake area, and Dr. Phillips from other states. Call our front desk and we can walk you through VPK at our school.

Facts to Check

Gold Seal and Dual Accreditation Show the Quality Behind Each Classroom

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips holds Florida Gold Seal Quality Care status, awarded through the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF). Gold Seal requires DCF licensure first, so our license is the foundation under every other credential we hold.

Many MetroWest and Dr. Phillips families moved here without a local friend to ask for advice. Verified credentials give you facts to check before you commit to years of care with one school.

We also hold two accreditations:

  • A.P.P.L.E. Accreditation (Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment)
  • N.E.C.P.A. Accreditation (National Early Childhood Program Accreditation), valid through April 30, 2027

N.E.C.P.A. reviews how adults and children interact, and how a school works with parents and the community. These are the daily moments you can't judge from a single tour.

Close All Day

Live Cameras and Daily App Updates Keep You Close to Your Child

Live parent cameras at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips let you see your child's classroom during the day. You don't have to wait until pickup to know how the day is going. Our school is 2.6 miles (about 13 minutes) from Universal Studios, and we are the closest day care to Universal Studios Orlando. If you work near the parks, you can check in on the camera during a shift break.

Our app sends real-time updates through the day, and you can message your child's teacher directly. Our open-door policy means you can visit anytime during our hours, with no notice needed. If something worries you, tell our front desk and we will address it the same day.

Meals come from our own kitchen. Our cook prepares breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack on site each day, so you don't need to pack these meals.

All Year Long

Year-Round Outdoor Play Built for Central Florida Weather

Outdoor play at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips continues all year, because Central Florida has no winter break from childcare needs. Our playground has shaded equipment and safety surfacing. On hot days, our water play area helps children cool off while they play.

Afternoon thunderstorms are common in Orlando summers, and hurricane season runs June through November. When weather keeps children inside, learning moves to our indoor spaces:

  • The library, for books and quiet reading
  • Playtown, our dramatic play room for pretend play
  • The art room, for hands-on projects

Our Germ Free Zone handwashing stations help children wash up when they come in from outside.

Summer My Way Summer Camp serves children ages 5 to 11, with a state theme each week. Mondays are water days, and campers take two field trips each week. One trip takes Dr. Phillips campers to Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake, a local park many Dr. Phillips families already know.
