Morning Drop-Off That Fits Orlando Work Hours
Morning drop-off at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips starts at 6:30 AM on weekdays. That early start matters for Dr. Phillips parents who work hotel, restaurant, and theme park shifts near Sand Lake Road, where many jobs begin before most schools and offices open.
Before-school drop-off for school-age kids starts at the same time, so siblings of different ages can arrive together.
Shift work rarely stays the same from week to week. A hotel front desk schedule or a restaurant kitchen shift can move with little warning. We offer flexible scheduling, so when you enroll, tell us how often your hours change and we’ll talk through what fits your family.
Our school sits 2.6 miles (about 13 minutes) from Universal Studios Orlando, and we are the closest day care to it. That makes a 6:30 AM drop-off practical for parents who work in the parks or nearby hotels.
Until 6:30 PM
Evening Pickup Goes Only to the Adults You Approve
Evening pickup at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips runs until 6:30 PM on weekdays. Many two-career families in Orlando split pickup between a partner, a grandparent, or a sitter. Before someone new comes for your child, let our front desk know.
Staff require ID from any adult they don’t know at pickup. This step can add a minute at the door, especially the first time a grandparent or sitter comes. If you remind that person to bring ID, the handoff will go quickly.
Plans change during the day. A meeting runs late, or a sitter has to fill in. When that happens, send a note through direct teacher messaging or contact the front desk. Our front desk addresses concerns the same day.
Central Florida summers bring afternoon thunderstorms that can hit near pickup time. When the weather turns, kids wait indoors in our library, our Playtown dramatic play room, or our art room.
See It for Yourself
Live Cameras and App Updates Confirm Your Child Arrived Safe
Live cameras and app updates at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips let you confirm your child arrived safe without leaving work. Many families move to the Dr. Phillips and MetroWest area from the Northeast and Midwest. These parents often don’t have friends or neighbors nearby to recommend a day care yet. Without word of mouth, it helps to see things for yourself.
Live parent camera access lets you look into your child’s classroom from work. You can check on drop-off, lunch, or nap time when you have a free moment. Real-time app updates keep you informed as the day goes on, and direct teacher messaging lets you ask a question and get an answer from the teacher in the room with your child.
Palm Lake and Bay Meadows
After-School Bus Pickup From Palm Lake and Bay Meadows Elementary
Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips runs a before and after school bus for Palm Lake Elementary and Bay Meadows Elementary, two Orange County Public Schools in Orlando. The bus serves these two schools only, so check that your child attends one of them before you enroll.
Before-school care starts at 6:30 AM. Your child can arrive early with you, then ride the bus to school.
After school, the bus brings your child back to our center. Kids get:
- A snack
- Homework help
- Outdoor fitness
- Staff supervision until you arrive
Pickup runs until 6:30 PM, so a late shift doesn’t leave your child waiting at a school curb.
Orlando stays warm all year, and school breaks don’t pause the need for care. Our Summer My Way Summer Camp, for ages 5 to 11, keeps kids busy outdoors during the summer months. Each week follows a state theme. Mondays are water days, and campers go on two field trips a week, including trips to Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake.
Day One
Preparing Your Child for a Calm First Drop-Off
A first drop-off at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips goes best when your child sees familiar faces. Our infant room has the same teachers every day, and parents mention them by name in reviews. Our caregivers stay with the same age group all day. For a baby or toddler, seeing the same adults day after day makes the handoff easier.
Schedule a tour and finish child care enrollment before day one. With the paperwork done early, the first morning can focus on your child instead of forms. We care for infants starting at 6 weeks.
Share notes with your child’s teacher before the first day:
- Infant feeding times and bottle habits
- Nap patterns
- Potty training progress for toddlers
We help with potty training. Tell the teacher what words and routine you use at home.
First goodbyes can be hard on both of you. A short, steady goodbye often goes more smoothly than a long one.
Central Florida heat shapes what you pack. Send light clothes for outdoor play on our shaded playground, plus a spare set. When your child is old enough for summer camp, pack swim clothes for Monday water days.
Since 2013
Gold Seal and Dual Accreditation Back Every Handoff
Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips holds Florida Gold Seal Quality Care, awarded by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF). Gold Seal requires DCF licensing, which we hold. We have served Dr. Phillips families since 2013.
We also hold two accreditations. A.P.P.L.E. stands for Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment. N.E.C.P.A. stands for National Early Childhood Program Accreditation, and it reviews how adults interact with children and how a program works with parents and the community. Our N.E.C.P.A. accreditation is valid through April 30, 2027.
All our teachers meet or exceed Florida state credential requirements, and all our staff are CPR/First Aid certified.
Parents in Bay Hill, Williamsburg, and Sand Lake often compare several licensed Orlando centers before choosing one. ZIP 32819 has a limited number of accredited providers. When you compare, ask each center which seals and accreditations it holds and when they expire. Then schedule a tour with us and watch a real drop-off routine before you decide.
