Partners in Growth

Family Events at Our Dr. Phillips Day Care

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips hosts Family Engagement Events in Orlando for enrolled families who want to stay close to their child’s learning. If you’re looking for a nursery school in Orlando, getting to know your child’s teachers is a good place to start. These events bring parents into the school for preschool graduation and time with teachers. Between events, you can keep up with the classroom every day through camera access, app updates, and teacher messages. As a Gold Seal day care center, we treat you as a partner in your child’s growth. To see how this works, contact our front desk and ask about upcoming event dates.

What They Are

Family Engagement Events in Orlando, Explained

Family engagement events are planned times when parents join their child’s daycare or preschool community. At Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips, these events connect families with teachers and with what children learn in the classroom. Preschool graduation celebrates children moving on to kindergarten, and other events give you time to meet teachers and other families in the Dr. Phillips community.

Walk the Rooms

Family Events Give Orlando Parents a Window Into the Classroom

Family events at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips let you see how your child learns instead of only hearing about it at pickup. A short drop-off conversation can only tell you so much. When you walk the rooms yourself, the stories your child tells at dinner start to make sense.

At our school, you can meet the teachers who spend the day with your child, along with other families whose children share the same classroom. Those connections often make it easier to ask questions later.

Events are also a good time to see the spaces your child uses:

  • Art Studio easels and red tables ready for painting

    Art Studio

  • Ladybird staff dressed as storybook characters at the front desk

    Science Lab

  • Children in costume collecting candy at a trunk-or-treat car

    Library

  • Row of tablets and red chairs in the computer lab

    Computer Lab

You don’t have to wait for an event, either. Our open-door policy means you can visit any time during operating hours, with no notice needed.

Afternoon thunderstorms are common in Central Florida, and outdoor time can end quickly when one rolls in. On a visit, ask to see our indoor spaces, including the library, the Playtown dramatic play room, and the art room, where your child’s day continues when it rains.

Plan Around Your Shift

Flexible Hours Help Dr. Phillips Working Parents Show Up

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips is open Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, which helps parents with early or late shifts plan their time. Many Dr. Phillips families work at theme parks, hotels, and restaurants near International Drive and Sand Lake Road. Those jobs often start early, end late, or change from week to week.

Our long weekday hours and flexible scheduling make it easier to plan around family events. A parent who starts work at sunrise can still drop off at 6:30 AM. A parent on a late shift has time to arrive before 6:30 PM. We’re closed Saturday and Sunday.

Location helps too. Our school sits 2.6 miles (about 13 minutes) from Universal Studios Orlando, and we are the closest day care to Universal Studios Orlando. For parents who work in that area, the short trip can make it easier to stop in for an event.

Once you know an event date, message your child’s teacher to ask about timing and what to expect. That gives you time to request a shift change or arrange a ride before the day arrives.

On to Kindergarten

Preschool Graduation Marks the Move to Kindergarten

Preschool graduation at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips celebrates each child’s move from Pre-K or VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) into kindergarten. It closes out your child’s preschool years, and elementary school comes next.

Graduation also shows the kindergarten readiness your child has built over time. Our classrooms use structured curricula: the Abeka curriculum and Saxon Math, along with phonics, early literacy, and math learning. By graduation day, you can see how those lessons connect to the skills kindergarten teachers look for.

Reviewed From Outside

Accreditation Checks How Well the Center Partners With Parents

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips holds N.E.C.P.A. accreditation (National Early Childhood Program Accreditation), which assesses adult-child interaction and parent-community relationships. Our N.E.C.P.A. accreditation is valid through April 30, 2027. For Bay Hill and Williamsburg parents who vet a childcare choice before signing, that review speaks to how well a school works with families, not only how it runs a classroom.

We hold two more quality marks:

  • Florida Gold Seal Quality Care, awarded by the Florida Department of Children and Families
  • A.P.P.L.E. Accreditation (Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment)

If you’re moving to Orlando from the Northeast or Midwest without local friends to ask, accreditation, Gold Seal status, and a credentialed director are things you can check for yourself.

Ms. Yliana Gomez

Director

Our director, Ms. Yliana Gomez, brings more than 15 years of childcare experience. Ms. Gomez has been with the school since it opened in 2013, first as a VPK teacher and then as Assistant Director. She has served as director since 2015. Ms. Gomez holds the National Child Development Associate (CDA) credential from the Council for Professional Recognition in Washington, D.C., as well as the Florida Director Credential.

Every Day

Stay Connected Between Events With Cameras, App Updates, and Teacher Messages

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips gives parents daily tools to follow their child’s day, even when work keeps them from an event. Most Orlando parents can’t attend every event, and that’s normal. Your involvement doesn’t have to stop when you miss one.

Live parent camera access lets you see your child’s classroom during the day, and real-time app updates keep you informed as the day goes on. Direct teacher messaging works both ways: you can ask questions or share news from home. A quick message about a rough morning can help a teacher support your child that afternoon.

Our front desk responds quickly, too. Parents confirm that concerns are addressed the same day, so a question doesn’t have to wait until the next event.

Quick answers matter during Central Florida’s frequent summer storms and hurricane season, which runs June through November. When weather changes the day’s plans with little warning, you can adjust pickup or work schedules sooner.
