Matched to Each Stage
Infant and Toddler Enrichment Activities Matched to Each Stage
Infant and toddler enrichment works best when the activity fits what your child can do right now. A baby learns by touching, hearing, and watching. A toddler learns by moving, copying, and naming things. If an activity is too hard, a child often loses interest. If it’s too easy, they get bored. We plan around each stage so your child stays curious.
Our infant and toddler rooms use:
- Sensory play that lets little hands explore textures, sounds, and colors
- Storytime sessions that build listening and early words
- Creative play centers for building, pretending, and making choices
Toddler classes at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips build early language and motor skills through play. We also teach sign language to infants and toddlers, because signs help a child share needs before spoken words come.
Consistent faces matter at this age. Our infant room staff stays with the same age group, and parents name these teachers in review after review. Your baby gets to know the same people each day.
Dedicated Rooms
Specialty Classes and Learning Centers Inside Our Campus
Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips runs enrichment in dedicated rooms on our campus, so you can see exactly where your child will learn.
Our on-site learning centers include:
-
Art Studio for hands-on projects
-
Science Lab
-
Library for reading and storytime
-
Computer Lab
Specialty classes add movement and new skills. Children can take Ballet Dance and Soccer. Cooking activities teach measuring, following steps, and trying new foods. Language learning includes conversational Spanish starting at age 2. In social studies, children learn about their community and the people in it, which gives them words for the places and jobs they see around Dr. Phillips.
Many families move to Orlando without friends or neighbors to ask for a daycare referral. A visit can fill that gap. You can see the Science Lab and ask our staff direct questions. Not every class fits every age, so ask which ones match your child’s age group while you’re here.
Daily, Not Last-Minute
Enrichment That Builds Kindergarten Readiness
Kindergarten readiness at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips grows from daily enrichment, not a last-minute push before school starts. Each activity ties to a skill your child will use in a classroom.
Two named curricula guide the core skills. The Abeka curriculum sets the foundation for early learning, and our teaching also covers phonics (the link between letters and sounds) and early literacy. Saxon Math teaches early math one step at a time, so each new idea rests on the last.
Our Pre-K Classroom and our Transition to Kindergarten support help children reach developmental milestones. These milestones are skills most children gain by a certain age, such as holding a pencil, following two-step directions, or counting objects.
Social-emotional learning matters just as much. It means learning to share, wait a turn, and handle big feelings, and group play gives children practice every day. When a child struggles, our behavioral support helps them learn calmer ways to respond.
Florida VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) is free for eligible 4-year-olds. We offer VPK during the school year only. Families from other states are often new to this program, so ask us how it works. We also accept School Readiness, formerly called 4C.
Preschool graduation marks your child’s move to kindergarten, and families celebrate it with us.
All 12 Months
Year-Round Outdoor and Indoor Enrichment Built for Florida Weather
Outdoor enrichment in Orlando does not stop for winter, because the warm climate makes outdoor play useful all 12 months. The bigger challenge here is heat and rain, so we plan for both.
On hot afternoons, children use shaded playground equipment and our water play area, which let them keep moving while staying cooler. Our playground also has safety surfacing under the equipment.
Central Florida summers bring frequent afternoon thunderstorms, and hurricane season runs June through November. When weather keeps children inside, learning moves to our indoor spaces: books and storytime in the Library, pretend play in Playtown (our dramatic play room), and creative projects in the Art room.
