During the Care Day
Ballet and Soccer Classes Built Into Your Child's Care Day
Ballet Dance and Soccer are part of the enrichment program at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips. Your child takes these classes during the care day, so you don't have to drive across Orlando to an evening class after work.
That saves a real trip for local families. Many Dr. Phillips parents work near Universal Studios, which is 2.6 miles (about 13 minutes) from our school, or on International Drive. Long shifts in those jobs leave little time or energy for a 6 PM dance class on the other side of town.
Each activity works on different skills. Ballet can help with balance and listening, because children practice holding steady and following the teacher's directions. Soccer can build teamwork and gross motor skills, which are the big movements of the arms, legs, and body, like running and kicking.
Four Learning Rooms
Hands-On Learning in the Art Studio, Science Lab, Library, and Computer Lab
Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips has four on-site learning rooms: an Art Studio, a Science Lab, a Library, and a Computer Lab. These rooms suit curious kids who learn best by touching, mixing, and building.
A young child often understands an idea better after handling it. Pouring water from one cup to another teaches "more" and "less" in a way a picture can't. That's why hands-on work fills much of our day. We offer:
-
Science activities
-
Cooking activities
-
Sensory play, which means activities that use touch, sight, sound, and smell
-
Creative play centers
Cooking activities give children a real reason to count, measure, and wait their turn. Sensory play helps younger children explore new textures and stay focused on one task.
Weather shapes how we plan the day in Orlando. Summer storms often roll in during the afternoon, and outdoor play has to stop when they do. Our indoor spaces keep learning going when the sky turns dark, so children can move to the library, our Playtown dramatic play room, or the art room instead of sitting and waiting for the rain to pass.
Ready for Kindergarten
Preschool Enrichment Programs That Build Kindergarten Readiness in Orlando
Preschool enrichment at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips helps Bay Hill and Williamsburg families prepare their children for kindergarten. Kindergarten readiness means more than knowing letters. Children also need to listen, follow steps, and get along with a group.
Our preschool program uses two curricula. The Abeka curriculum supports reading through phonics and early literacy, and Saxon Math builds early math skills step by step.
Language learning classes, social studies, and storytime sessions are also part of the preschool day. Children learn sign language as infants and toddlers, and conversational Spanish starts at age 2. Storytime builds vocabulary and teaches children to sit and listen to a whole story.
Social-emotional learning is the skill of managing feelings and getting along with others. Our teachers help children practice sharing, waiting, and taking turns, the same skills kindergarten teachers count on.
Florida offers two programs that can help with preschool costs. Florida VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) is free for 4-year-olds, and at our school it runs during the school year only. Families moving from other states often haven't heard of VPK, so ask us how it works with full-day care. We also accept School Readiness (formerly 4C). Our preschool program ends with preschool graduation, a milestone families celebrate before kindergarten starts.
Summer My Way
Summer Camp Enrichment and Field Trips Around Dr. Phillips
The Summer My Way Summer Camp at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips gives Orlando families care when school lets out. Camp is for ages 5 to 11 and runs in week-long sessions, each following a state theme.
Campers take two field trips per week. One Summer My Way field trip goes to Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake, a park many local families already know.
Staying cool is a real concern in a Florida summer. Mondays are water days, and our water play area gives kids another way to cool off. Central Florida heat lasts most of the year, not just in summer, so our shaded playground equipment protects kids when they play outside. The playground also has safety surfacing under it.
See It for Yourself
Ways Parents Check Enrichment Quality Every Day
Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips gives parents several ways to check on enrichment quality without waiting for a report. This matters most for Orlando newcomers from the Northeast or Midwest who have no local referrals yet. If no neighbor can vouch for a school, you need to see the school for yourself.
- Live parent camera access lets you watch your child's classroom as the day happens.
- Real-time app updates show you what your child did during the day.
- Direct teacher messaging lets you ask your child's teacher a question.
- Our front desk answers concerns the same day.
When you watch on camera, look past the activity itself. Check whether teachers are at your child's eye level and whether most children are busy with the task.

Director Ms. Yliana Gomez brings 15+ years of childcare experience. She holds the Florida Director Credential and a National CDA credential.
Getting Started
Getting Your Child Started With Enrichment Activities in Orlando
Enrollment at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips starts with a call or visit to our front desk. Families in the Sand Lake Road and Turkey Lake area can ask the front desk about child care or preschool enrollment.
Before you call, think about your child's age and your work schedule. Then ask which program fits: toddler classes, our Pre-K classroom, or full-day preschool.
We offer full-day programs only. Our hours are 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with flexible scheduling, which helps parents whose shifts start early or end late.
School-age children have a place with us too. Our before and after school bus serves Palm Lake Elementary and Bay Meadows Elementary, and before-school drop-off starts at 6:30 AM. After school, children get homework help, snacks, and outdoor fitness time. If you have a preschooler and an older child at one of those schools, ask how both can attend our center.
