After School Care

After School Care in Orlando: Pickup, Homework Help, and Play in Dr. Phillips

Our after school program in Dr. Phillips serves Orlando families whose school day ends hours before their workday does. Our bus picks up students from Palm Lake and Bay Meadows Elementary, and each afternoon includes a snack, homework help, and enrichment activities. We are a Florida Gold Seal day care center with credentialed staff and a set plan for every afternoon, open weekdays from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM. The best way to see how afternoons work here is to visit us.

Straight From Class

After School Pickup From Palm Lake and Bay Meadows Elementary

Our after school bus picks up students from Palm Lake Elementary and Bay Meadows Elementary, two Orange County Public Schools in our area. If your family is zoned for either school, your child can ride straight from class to Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips.

Our bus meets your child at dismissal and drives them to our school. When your child steps off the bus, our staff take over right away, so you aren’t left guessing whether the handoff happened.

School dismissal lands in the middle of most workdays. Leaving work for pickup means driving Dr. Phillips Boulevard and Sand Lake Road during busy hours, then heading back to work or staying home for the rest of the day. For many working parents, that trip isn’t realistic, and our bus takes it off your plate.

Bus service is limited to those two schools. If your child attends a different school, call us before you plan around it, since your child would need another way to reach us after dismissal.

Snack, Then Study

Homework Help and a Healthy Snack After the School Bell

Homework time at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips goes hand in hand with a snack. Elementary students often get off the bus hungry, and a hungry child has a hard time focusing on spelling words or math facts.

Afternoons include a fresh snack from our on-site nutrition program, made in our kitchen by our own cook rather than shipped in.

Homework time is built into every afternoon, too. Staff stay on hand to answer questions, check that your child understands the task, and help them stay on track. Kids who need to read or look something up can use our Library and Computer Lab.

Move and Create

Enrichment Activities That Fill the Afternoon

Enrichment activities at Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips give kids a chance to move and create after sitting in class all day. Along with homework time, afternoons include these activities.

Activities include:

  • Science activities
  • Cooking activities
  • Ballet and dance
  • Soccer
  • Creative play
  • Outdoor play

These activities happen in rooms set up for them. Kids can use our Art Studio, Science Lab, Library, and Computer Lab. Having a set space for each activity means kids aren’t packed into one room all afternoon.

Afternoon thunderstorms are common in Central Florida summers, so we plan for both kinds of days. On dry days, kids head outside to our playground, which has shaded equipment and safety surfacing. When a storm comes through, we move indoors to the library, Playtown (our dramatic play room), and the art room.

For families in nearby Bay Hill and Williamsburg, that means homework, a snack, and active play in one stop close to home, with real time for your child to unwind after school.

Shift-Friendly Hours

Hours That Fit Orlando’s Tourism and Hospitality Shifts

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips keeps weekday hours that match the schedules of parents working in Orlando’s tourism and hospitality jobs. Many parents in the Dr. Phillips area work at Universal Orlando, at hotels on International Drive, or at restaurants along Sand Lake Road’s Restaurant Row. Those jobs often start early, end late, or change from week to week.

Our weekday hours are built for that:

  • Before-school drop-off starts at 6:30 AM.
  • After school pickup is by 6:30 PM.
  • We are open Monday through Friday and closed Saturday and Sunday.

We also offer flexible scheduling for families whose work weeks shift. Talk with us about your schedule during your visit so we can explain what options fit.

Our location helps too. Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips is the closest daycare to Universal Studios, about 2.6 miles (13 minutes) away. If you work at Universal or nearby, you can drop off your child on the way in and pick them up on the way home. That one stop before and after work can save you a second drive across town during the busiest parts of the day.

Check In Anytime

Safety, Supervision, and Real-Time Parent Updates

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips gives parents direct ways to check on their child during the afternoon. This matters most for families new to Orlando who don’t yet have friends or neighbors to ask about local child care.

You can stay connected through:

  • Live camera access to see your child’s classroom
  • Real-time app updates during the day
  • Direct messaging with your child’s teacher

If you have a concern, our front desk works to address it the same day. At pickup, we require ID from any adult we don’t know.

Ladybird Academy of Dr. Phillips holds Florida Gold Seal Quality Care status, awarded by the Florida Department of Children and Families. We hold A.P.P.L.E. accreditation (Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment). We also hold N.E.C.P.A. accreditation (National Early Childhood Program Accreditation), which is valid through April 30, 2027. N.E.C.P.A. reviews how adults interact with children and how a school works with parents and the community.
